Settings

CandleLog's Settings page lets you manage your account details, trading accounts, preferences, and data. Access Settings from the main navigation to customize the platform for your trading workflow.

Overview

The Settings page is organized into four tabs:

  • Profile - Your personal account information
  • Trading Accounts - Manage multiple brokerage accounts
  • Preferences - Timezone, currency, and display options
  • Data - Export and account deletion

Profile

Update your personal account information in the Profile tab.

Full Name

Your display name shown throughout CandleLog. This can be changed at any time.

  1. Navigate to Settings > Profile
  2. Enter your name in the Full Name field
  3. Click Save Changes

Email

Your email address is displayed but cannot be changed. This is the email associated with your login credentials.


Trading Accounts

Manage multiple trading accounts to keep trades organized by broker or account type. Each account tracks its own balance and can use a different currency.

Why Use Multiple Accounts

  • Track different brokers separately
  • Separate funded accounts from practice accounts
  • Keep retirement accounts distinct from active trading
  • Monitor multiple strategies in isolation
  • Track different asset classes independently

Account Properties

Each trading account has these properties:

Creating a Trading Account

  1. Navigate to Settings > Trading Accounts
  2. Click Add Account
  3. Enter the account name
  4. Select the account type from the dropdown
  5. Choose the currency
  6. Enter the starting balance
  7. Optionally add the broker name
  8. Click Create Account

Setting a Primary Account

Your primary account is used as the default when logging trades.

  1. Find the account in your list
  2. Click Set Primary
  3. The account displays a star icon and "PRIMARY" label

Editing an Account

  1. Click the edit icon (pencil) on the account card
  2. Update any fields
  3. Click Update Account

Deleting an Account

Deleting an account permanently removes it and all associated trades.

  1. Click the trash icon on the account card
  2. Review the warning about permanent deletion
  3. Click Delete Account to confirm

Note: You cannot delete your last remaining account. At least one trading account must exist.

Account Limits

Your plan determines how many trading accounts you can create. The current usage is displayed as "X of Y accounts used". When you reach the limit, the Add Account button is disabled.


Preferences

Configure display and calculation settings in the Preferences tab.

Timezone

Set your local timezone for accurate trade timestamps. This affects how times are displayed throughout CandleLog.

  1. Navigate to Settings > Preferences
  2. Select your timezone from the dropdown
  3. Click Save Preferences

Quick access is provided for commonly used timezones:

  • UTC (Coordinated Universal Time)
  • America/New York - Eastern Time (EST)
  • America/Chicago - Central Time (CST)
  • America/Denver - Mountain Time (MST)
  • America/Los Angeles - Pacific Time (PST)
  • Europe/London (GMT)
  • Europe/Paris (CET)
  • Europe/Berlin (CET)
  • Asia/Tokyo (JST)
  • Asia/Shanghai (CST)
  • Asia/Kolkata (IST)
  • Australia/Sydney (AEDT)

Below the popular options, all timezones are organized by region:

Default Currency

Set your preferred currency for display:

This setting affects currency display throughout the application when viewing P&L and account balances.


Data Management

Export your trading data or delete your account from the Data tab.

Export Trading Data

Download all your trades as a CSV file for backup or analysis in external tools.

  1. Navigate to Settings > Data
  2. Click Export Trading Data
  3. A CSV file downloads automatically as candlelog_trades_export.csv

The export includes all trades across all accounts with complete details: symbols, prices, timestamps, P&L, notes, and more.

Delete Account

Permanently delete your CandleLog account and all associated data.

Warning: This action cannot be undone. All your trades, notes, screenshots, strategies, and account data will be permanently deleted.

  1. Navigate to Settings > Data
  2. Click Delete Account
  3. Review the warning message
  4. Click Yes, Delete Account to confirm
  5. You will be signed out and redirected to the home page

Consider exporting your data before deleting your account.


Best Practices

Timezone Selection

Choose the timezone where you trade. If you trade during US market hours from another region, you may prefer Eastern Time (America/New York) for easier session tracking.

Account Organization

Create separate trading accounts when you want to:

  • Track performance independently for different brokers
  • Isolate paper trading from live trading
  • Measure strategy performance in dedicated accounts
  • Keep long-term investments separate from active trading

Regular Backups

Export your trading data periodically:

  • Before making major changes
  • At the end of each month or quarter
  • Before switching to a new trading setup
